Hot spots financing
(KDN will install free wireless hotspots in all 50 Family Bank branches to provide free WIFI Internet at 1 kilometre radius around the branch.)
The objective of this product is to facilitate establishment and maintenance of a network of ICT facilities also known as Digital Villages in the rural and urban centers which includes digital hotspots in all Family Bank Branches.
Digital Villages are e-centres that provide a suite of services to the public via computers connected to the internet via digital cameras, printers, fax machines and other communication infrastructure. These services include e-government services, banking and communication services, e-learning among others.
Family Bank will finance enterprises and individuals to start establishment of such facilities countrywide and to have Internet in their homes and businesses.
Hotspots (Wi-Fi)
A hotspot is a physical location that offers internet access over a wireless LAN through the use of a shared internet connection and a single router.
Hotspots can typically be found in coffee shops and various other public establishments throughout much of North America and Europe. Both paid and free hotspots continue to grow.
A Wi-Fi enabled device such as a personal computer, laptop, mobile phone, MP3 player or personal digital assistant can connect to the Internet when within range of a wireless network connected to the Internet.
The coverage of one or more interconnected access points—called a hotspot —can comprise an area as small as a few rooms or as large as many square miles covered by a group of access points with overlapping coverage.
In addition to private use in homes and offices, Wi-Fi can provide public access at Wi-Fi hotspots provided either free of charge or to subscribers to various commercial services. Organizations and businesses such as airports, hotels and restaurants often provide free hotspots to attract or assist clients
